Towner Ambulance receives $15,000 Grant

The Towner Ambulance recently received a $15,00 grant through a program where Verendrye Electric’s lender CoBank and power producer Basin Electric Power Cooperative provide matching funds.
The money went towards equipment for the ambulance, including a LifePak 15, a device that has advanced diagnostic tools that are critical for the timely and effective treatment of patients experiencing cardiac events, trauma and other life-threatening conditions. It also functions as a defibrillator.
“This machine is incredible. You push a button and it analyzes and tells you whatever you need to know. We can send whatever we’re seeing to the hospital on the way there,” said Eric Ericksmoen, an ambulance volunteer.
The machine will help paramedics who cover a large geographical area. They are based in Towner and send patients to either Minot or Rugby hospitals depending on the condition of the patient and distance.
There’s about 20 volunteers with the Towner Ambulance.
