The Verendrye Electric Cooperative Budget Billing program allows you to pay a set amount for your electric bill every month. This keeps your bills consistent throughout the year, establishing your average usage between your low-use months and your high-use months. This program is free to VEC members.
To calculate your Budget Billing amount, we take your last 12 months bills and find the average amount. This 12 month average amount is then increased by 10%. This adjustment will help assure that even if the weather is colder or hotter than normal your budget amount will cover your electric bill. This is the amount you would pay for the next 11 months. On the 12th month, the balance between what you paid and what you used is settled. At this time a new Budget Billing amount would be recalculated for the following year.
With Budget Billing you will continue to receive a regular monthly bill so you can see exactly what your usage and amount billed was. The only difference is you only need to pay the Budget Billing amount. To qualify for Budget Billing you need to be on Verendrye Electric Cooperative service for one year. You can cancel from the Budget Billing program at anytime.
